In the News…
Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts framed the Federal Communications Commission’s investigation into broadcasters as censorship during recent testimony from FCC Chair Brendan Carr.
He cited an instance from a San Francisco radio station after a news anchor read a report on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The senator said, “The station demoted the anchor who first read that news report over the air and pulled back on its political coverage.“
Senator Markey also highlighted the circumstances surrounding the brief removal of Jimmy Kimmel Live from the air after the host made inflammatory statements in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. The senator likened the commission’s actions to “mafia threats” and said that broadcasters “feel that censorship.”
